Greens News
Monday 20 February
Due to the wet weather that is forecast this week we will be leaving the drainage on the 4th green until the surface is drier to work on. The contractors will be returning this week with the mulcher to finish the tree work, however we are not certain which day it will be as the machine is on another job just now. Souters should be starting the bunkers this morning but again the forecast for the week is heavy rain so we will try and start them at some of the drier holes. As soon as we have a dry day it is our intention to deep scarify the 12th green to remove as much moss as possible. This work will leave the moss areas bare and we will have to overseed this part of the green.

This week we will be cutting to tidy up the course. We will also be making a start on the 4th green again. Yesterday all greens were slit and rolled and a granular fertiliser was applied today. This will help to start the growth slowly.
Tree contractors have now felled most of the trees that they have been contracted to do. Towards the end of this week they will be bringing in a mulcher to finish the work. This machine will drive over the trees where they have been stacked and mulch them into bark and soil leaving these areas ready for seeding and planting. We must make members aware that this may leave some mess and finishing work for greenstaff. Due to financial constraints this was agreed the most cost effective and quickest way of dealing with the damage that the storms have caused. We may also have to close some holes when this machine is working to ensure the safety of members.
Monday 6 February
This week we will carry on with tree work. The contractors have started work today (Monday)at the 16th tees. We will be working with the chipper clearing smaller areas around the course.
Monday 30 January
This week we will carry on with tree work. We hope to see the contractors starting work on the large areas of trees next Monday. The contractors hope to have this work finished within two weeks.
